Cancer Support Services

The following therapies are often used complimentary to or following chemotherapy, radiation and/or surgery in BC Cancer Agency patients.

Vitamin C Therapy – Intravenous

The use of high-dose Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) injected into the veins over 45-90 minutes. Depending on the patient 25-75g of Vitamin C are injected per treatment. Research indicates that this therapy has the ability to cause apoptosis (cancer cell death) via oxidation and improve the prognosis and quality of life in cancer patients. In addition to cancer support and the prevention of secondary occurrence, this therapy is indicated prior to and following surgeries, such as mastectomies and prostatectomies, in order to accelerate healing time.

High Dose MicroNutrient Therapy – Intravenous

Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments utilize and deplete micronutrients in the body. These deficiencies can lead to fatigue, digestive complaints and cachexia (muscle wasting). High dose intravenous nutrient therapy bypasses the absorption barriers in the gut (whose function is often compromised during cancer treatment) and ensures direct delivery of nutrients to blood and tissues. This therapy is indicated in cancer patients as well as autoimmune disease, chronic illness and other unresolved health issues.

Mistletoe Therapy – Iscador

Mistletoe is a widely used and researched therapy in many parts of Europe and across the world. Mistletoe is a plant harvested for its chemotherapeutic and immunostimulatory properties. Mistletoe extract is injected beneath the skin in serial doses to stimulate the immune system and decrease cancer cell proliferation.

Glutathione – Nebulized & Intravenous

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that is produced naturally in the body, but is severely depleted in most individuals. When inhaled through a nebulizer, glutathione is delivered directly to the lungs’ surface where it acts to repair and protect lung tissue. Glutathione has been proven effective in the treatment of lung diseases such as cancer, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and COPD, but also to heal the lungs following radiation therapy to the chest wall.

Patient physician consultations are required prior to onset of any complimentary supportive cancer treatments. The West Vancouver Wellness Centre can provide research to support the use of these therapies at the patient’s request.  Please note that although these therapies benefit a great number of people, no single therapy can promise a cure. If you or someone you know is suffering from cancer, the West Vancouver Wellness Centre recommends that patients first seek the advice of cancer experts at the BC Cancer Agency, followed by a consultation with one of our Naturopathic Doctors. All Doctors at the West Vancouver Wellness Centre encourage communication amongst members of the patient’s health care team.
